We met at our church college ministry in SoCal in the year 2000, before smartphones and social media, when we were still using answering machines and dial-up internet. Bonding over U2, margaritas, and M. Night Shyamalan movies, a months-long friendship transitioned to dating as we realized we had become inseparable.
Photo dates were among some of our favorite activities, spending hours in Santa Monica, Pasadena, and all around LA, taking turns in front of and behind the camera. Danny was already shooting professionally for Epic Imagery, and Allena was developing her own film in her college photo lab...
In 2004, we tied the knot and we began one wild ride! It was in 2005 that we purchased Epic Imagery from its founder and our very close friend who had taken Danny under his wing when he established the business in 1997. Since becoming the sole owners and operators of our studio, we made the transition from film to digital, and found opportunities to diversify our business. As wedding clients have expressed a desire for our services across varying arenas, we have amassed an ever-expanding list of portrait, corporate, and scholastic clients in both of the Colorado and greater Los Angeles markets.
With two sons, and two daughters ranging from 19 down to 11 years old, there is no doubt that being parents is our favorite role. In 2020, our entire crew (Luna, the Bernese Mountain Dog included), made the leap from Southern California to the Black Forest region of North Colorado Springs, and it's been an incredible adventure! We love spending time outdoors and exploring our (newish) home state. Traveling, coffee, and live music are some of the ways we enjoy spending time together apart from our business and kiddos, but we still find plenty of time to have fun while working. As we can often be heard telling our clients, the marital banter comes free of charge!

When Danny isn’t behind the camera, or being mistaken for Bradley Cooper, he enjoys equal parts fly fishing, golf, and tacos. Born and raised in suburban Los Angeles, Danny learned in his early 20’s that he had inherited his mother’s creative genes, and his Dad’s outgoing personality. From there, it was from a close friend he met at church that the opportunity to explore photography presented itself and he has never looked back. Over 20 years, and countless weddings, events, headshots, and portraits later, he is still fueled by the creative process and the satisfaction of clients who love their pictures.

When you’re a sucker for Rom Coms, pretty things, and a good party, it seems you are tailor made for a role in the event industry, or at least Allena likes to think so. Having always loved the creative aspects of hosting and hospitality, Allena has dabbled in floral and planning, and found an interest in photography with her Mom’s old Pentax in her college years. Also a Los Angeles native, Allena is ever eager to practice her Spanish with native speakers and enjoys exploring the varying aspects of her Mediterranean roots, especially when it comes to travel. There is hardly a craft project she isn’t willing to attempt, or a vintage typewriter she won’t salivate over, adding to her constantly growing collection.

Yes? let’s work together!
Telling your story begins with our own. Aside from being the dynamic duo you are sure to love working with, we are husband and wife first, not to mention parents and providers for a crazy bunch! As a married couple with kids of our own, we have come to appreciate even more about what we do, because we have been exactly where most of our clients are now. We have been a Bride and a Groom, a pair of sleep-deprived zombies caring for a newborn, and a nervous Mom and Dad walking kiddos into Kindergarten, and then Middle School, and then High School for the first time. We know and have experienced so many facets of life that our clients are embarking on. As a result, we consider it an honor to be able to walk with you and capture these milestones for you, while also remembering what it was like and sharing a bit of what we have learned along the way.
For us, it’s important that you are able to develop a sense of trust and confidence that we understand and will do all we can to make the process of creating beautiful photos run as smoothly as we can. Before you are our clients, you are people who recognize the value of documenting your life’s most pivotal moments, and it is our hope that after becoming our clients, you will count us as friends. We are here to cheer you on and celebrate with you, recognizing that once upon a time, we were right where you are now, trying to figure it all out!
It is of utmost importance to us to look at our clients as people first, and also to appreciate their own stories. We value who you are and where you have come from. Over time, we have had the incredible privilege of calling on our clients to help us in some of our own life’s intricacies, and for that we will be forever grateful, and blessed to be able to do what we do. Our philosophy goes far beyond great pictures and extends into cultivating relationships, because whether you’re getting married, sending the kids to college, or you’re celebrating 25 years together, we want to be there to document the occasion and to honor where you’ve been and where you’re headed!
