Jonathan Beach Club | Santa Monica, Ca

I’ve had the great fortune of photographing some incredibly fun events this year!

High on that list was Kirsten & Nils’ Santa Monica, Jonathan Beach Club wedding. On a beach-perfect summer day, I began shooting at the elegant Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey. There’s never any difficulty getting inspired about photographing a wedding while breathing in salty ocean air against the backdrop of a fleet of yachts….while sipping on a margarita (ok, there wasn’t a margarita). After an emotional first look, we made our way to a nearby park in a tour bus that put all others to shame, complete with wet bar.

The ceremony took place at the historic Saint Monica’s Church in the heart of Santa Monica, CA, which made for a beautiful setting with it’s cathedral ceilings and stately columns.  From there it was time to get the real party started at the well-heeled (substitute with flip-flop) Jonathan Beach Club. The dinner and festivities were held right on the sand, with a front row seat to the shoreline. Planner Samantha Sisk, with La Bella Dia did an impeccable job bringing the various elements together to maximize every detail of this stunning event. The energy, playfulness and joy of this couple was evident right from the beginning and I truly enjoyed being a part of such an incredible day!
