Not only do we love shooting weddings… we really have a ton of fun in the process. So many of my most fond memories, moments and friendships have been established through wedding photography over the years. There’s something so special about the journey of an engagement leading to the wedding day that brings people together. As a photographer, there’s a certain energy that’s hard to explain on a wedding day. The personal connection with the couple, the air of excitement and expectations of what’s to come; all of these elements come together to create an amazing experience as a photographer.
You’ll probably also notice from perusing the outtakes gallery, that I do whatever it takes to get the shot! From standing on random fountains, laying down in the street, dodging traffic or balancing on railings. But in all seriousness… or should I say hilariousness, I truly do pour myself into capturing the most dynamic images possible for my couples.
As exciting as weddings can be, I know that quite often there can be a bit of natural stress and tension as well. Because of this, I make it a point to convey a calming, jovial and light-hearted vibe. I learned almost immediately that as a photographer, you really do play a big role in how enjoyable a wedding photography experience can be. A stressed-out and demanding photographer leads to stressed-out clients. Your photographer plays a huge role in setting the atmosphere for an awesome day!
At the beginning of my wedding photography journey, I think I was drawn more to the purely “fun” aspects of capturing these couples and their big day. However, as the years have passed (and have a bustling family of my own), I understand how fleeting time and life can be, and how important events like weddings are in the life of my clients, their family, and friends. Life events such as weddings are few and far between typically, and I take it is a great honor to be asked to document these amazing events with professionalism, gratitude and of course, FUN!
