Spruce Mountain Ranch Wedding

Let’s all agree, that this was certainly not the year that things came together easily. This Christmas themed shoot at the beautiful Spruce Mountain Ranch was by far the exception.  On a day when snow had not been likely on the forecast, but very much hoped for, we arrived at the venue to find a fresh blanket, with more gently and abundantly falling throughout the day.  For a photography team previously stationed in sunny Southern California, shooting in this Winter Wonderland was an absolute dream!

When we met Ashlee and heard her own account of being married in the COVID era, mere months before she would begin working at what she now describes as her ideal venue, we knew we needed to help with a do-over.  As an industry, we have all been affected by the unfortunate circumstances surrounding 2020, but few have been more deeply or tragically impacted than the couples marrying this year, and Ashlee and her husband Christian were on the miles-long list of casualties.  To have the ability to gift a couple that has endured this hardship the opportunity to turn things around, giving them a memorable experience and beautiful images to treasure, was our privilege and joy!

Knowing that our date for this shoot was set in early December in an area known for its mountainous terrain and plentiful evergreens, it seemed only natural to choose a Christmas concept.  In keeping things more current but elegant, a pink and rose gold palette was chosen with mixed metallic accents and plenty of sparkle.  With larger, more formal events having succumbed to the pandemic, we thought it would be especially fun to play into the fantasy of an elaborate affair.  The perfectly pink Brookyln Grace ballgown from Something New Boutique Ashlee wore was like a gorgeously beaded confection against the snowy backdrop.

What makes this gown even more significant is the vision behind its creator, the lovely and talented Mindi Linscombe.  Not only does Mindi own Something New, but she is the designer behind the jaw-dropping Brooklyn Grace collection, which benefits the Exodus Road.  This vital organization works to rescue and rehabilitate victims of Human Trafficking, helping hundreds annually to find freedom and give them hope for a more promising future.  How could we not want to feature this gown with such an incredible purpose?!

From the table to the tree to the cake, everything sparkled with ornaments, snowflakes, and various trees from delicate mercury glass to the tiny pink pencil variety.  I loved creating a cozy feel with the pillows and velvet ottoman around the fireplace and the cable knit throws draped over the chairs.

We were so incredibly fortunate to work with such an outstanding team of talented vendors, helping make this shoot come together in the most amazing way, and we are especially grateful to have some of these images featured by Rocky Mountain Bride.  Please feel free to visit their site for the special Christmas Day spread and enjoy perusing a more expanded collection below….

Thank you for your continued love and support throughout this challenging year, and we wish you a very blessed, healthy, and joyful 2021!

With Love,
