The Majestic | Los Angeles Wedding

As soon as Angelica & Shaun contacted me about photographing their wedding, I was immediately excited for two reasons. First, this was my inaugural event at this beautiful and historic venue, The Majestic Downtown, and it absolutely did not disappoint! Additionally, this is not the first event I’ve captured for this family, and let me just say, they definitely know how to have a good time! It’s always a pleasure to shoot a family or group that I have photographed before, because there is an immediate comfort level and camaraderie, which makes for incredible pictures, and just makes the day go that much smoother.

The Majestic was a gorgeous setting for photographs with its stunning architecture, hand-painted ceilings, and crystal chandeliers. The first look took place in a downstairs area of the building called The Reserve, which is a very cool after-hours hot spot. This space has it’s own very unique vibe which combines an old-world “bank vault” with an edgy modern flair. The couple read their notes to each other with the extravagant bar as the backdrop, which was especially fitting for this couple! In fact, they even had “his and hers” bars setup at their reception (see the pics below).

The ceremony at St. Nicholas Church was beautiful and romantic with its own opulent aesthetic and while we did have some traffic and rain to contend with, Angelica was ever the cool, calm, and collected bride. Georgia Covell with HD Event Planning was also excellent in making sure that every detail and contingency was planned for, helping to make my job that much easier!

For the reception it was back to The Majestic for an off-the-charts party, complete with epic toasts, storytelling around the bar, and energetic Greek dancing! I truly enjoyed having the opportunity to capture another milestone event for this family and I think it definitely shows in the final product.
